What an Indoor Air Quality Inspection Involves
An inspection is a diagnostic process, not a guess. Our Certified Indoor Environmentalist evaluates the building systematically to determine the source of the problem — not just its symptoms. That includes assessing ventilation and airflow, identifying moisture intrusion and elevated humidity, examining HVAC systems and ductwork, and locating visible or suspected microbial growth.
Where warranted, we pair the inspection with video and infrared moisture detection to find water intrusion behind walls, under flooring, and in other concealed areas that a visual inspection alone would miss.
You receive a clear assessment of what we found and a proposal for resolving it.
What Affects Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air is degraded by a combination of biological, chemical, and particulate contaminants:
Biological — mold, bacteria, dust mites, pet dander, and pollen
Chemical — volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by paints, furniture, flooring, and cleaning products
Combustion and activity byproducts — from cooking, fireplaces, and unvented appliances
Two building conditions make all of these worse. Excess moisture creates the conditions mold needs to establish itself, a persistent issue in New Orleans' climate. Most residential inspections take between one and three hours, depending on the size of the property and the complexity of the issue. Larger commercial buildings or situations requiring extensive moisture detection will take longer. We'll give you a timeframe when scheduling.

You receive an assessment of the conditions found and a written resolution proposal outlining the recommended course of action. The goal is that you finish the inspection knowing both what the problem is and what it takes to fix it.

Often, yes. Visible mold tells you there's a moisture problem, but it doesn't tell you where the moisture is coming from or how far the growth extends behind finished surfaces. Remediating visible growth without identifying and correcting the source generally means the mold returns.

DUCT/HVAC CLEANING & SANITIZING
Your heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems need regular inspection to ensure optimum operation. If dust, mold or rodents cause problems in the HVAC, we’ll find the source of the issues and clean and/or repair your ducts.
